Jonny Lee Miller reveals he's celebrating 12 years of sobriety

EMILY PRESCOTT: Jonny Lee Miller, who played drug-using Sherlock Holmes in Elementary and Trainspotting addict Sick Boy, reveals he is celebrating 12 years of sobriety

Little did we know that when actor Jonny Lee Miller played a drug-using Sherlock Holmes in hit US series Elementary, he had only just beaten his own demons.

Jonny, formerly married to Angelina Jolie, has spoken publicly for the first time about celebrating 12 years of sobriety – although he did not disclose what substance he had been addicted to.

‘I discovered more about myself in those 12 years than my entire life beforehand,’ says Jonny, left in Elementary.

‘I want you to know there is life beyond your dreams.’

The 50-year-old played an opium-smoking Sherlock in Elementary between 2012 and 2019. He also famously played another heroin addict, Sick Boy, in the two Trainspotting films.

Hats off to Alice the vet

If fashion designer Alice Temperley decides to make a career move, might I suggest she becomes a vet?

Alice has rescued a baby field mouse she found lying helplessly on the floor and has now become devoted to nursing it to full health before releasing it back into the wild.

It sounds like a full-on job as Alice, 48, tells me she is feeding it on the hour to help it regain its strength.

Not only is it getting some top-level care, but the mouse has lucked out on a bit of luxury as his hospital bed is none other than one of Alice’s straw hats which she has furnished with a miniature disco ball. Of her patient, Alice gushes: ‘It’s so cute.’
