Whitney fears child abuse she suffered will ruin fostering dream in EastEnders

Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) is reminded of her horrific past while planning for her future in EastEnders.

The beloved character is currently on a fostering journey with partner Zack (James Farrar). They made the decision to become foster parents after the death of their baby Peach, and Whitney’s comments about not wanting to put her body through another pregnancy.

After moving out of Chelsea’s (Zaraah Abrahams) and settling into their new home, Whitney and Zack sit down with a social worker called Jan for an assessment.

During the appointment, Whitney has to go over difficult aspects of her past, including the abuse she suffered from Tony King.

Whitney’s child abuse storyline aired in 2008. It saw her groomed and sexually abused by Tony, who was Bianca’s (Patsy Palmer) partner at the time.

Back in the present day, Whitney worries that her past may have an impact on whether she can become a foster parent or not.

Later in the week, Jan returns and tells a thrilled Whitney and Zack that they’ve been approved for the next stage of the fostering application.

Jan believes they have much to give children in the fostering system, but what will these upcoming scenes mean for Whitney’s exit?
